While principal of Sullivan High School, formerly one of the most violent high schools in Chicago, Chad H. Thomas’s nearly decade-long rehabilitation and renewal of the school was captured in the highly acclaimed book Refugee High: Coming of Age in America. Heralded for his work in restorative practices and behavioral health at public high schools, he has been documented in the Washington Post, Chicago Magazine, the Chicago Sun-Times, and National Public Radio’s This American Life. Thomas lives in Chicago’s West Town neighborhood.
