About me
Doctora Alexandra Escobar is a Latine social justice and equity leader, passionately committed to advancing educators’ racial and socio-cultural consciousness to better serve students and their families. With a career deeply rooted in achieving educational equity and racial justice, Dra. Escobar has dedicated herself to ensuring every child receives the rigor, support, and resources necessary for academic, behavioral, and social-emotional success.
Dra. Escobar began her journey as a bilingual Spanish classroom teacher and ascended through the ranks of leadership as a principal and Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning in the Chicagoland area. Her extensive experience in these roles solidified her commitment to dismantling systemic inequities within education.
In 2020, Dr. Escobar founded Affirming Voices, LLC, a visionary organization addressing the pervasive lack of educational equity and the impact of racism and injustice in school communities. Affirming Voices envisions a world in which leaders and their organizations cultivate a coalition of critically conscious educators to reimagine education so that all members are seen, heard, and valued for who they are, as they are. Through this work, Dra. Escobar partners with organizations to develop and implement systemic, systematic, and sustainable policies and practices that foster educational equity.
Dra. Escobar’s academic credentials include a Doctorate in Education in Administration and Supervision from Loyola University, with a Superintendent Endorsement from the State of Illinois. She also holds a Master’s in Education with Type 75 School Leadership certification from Concordia University and a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education with specializations in English as a New Language, ESL, and Bilingual Education from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Additionally, she is a Certified Teacher and Administrator Evaluator through the Illinois State Board of Education’s Performance Evaluation Advisory Council.
A tireless advocate and collaborator, Dr. Escobar continues to listen, learn, and act alongside her partners to realize a future in which every child can flourish unhindered by racism and injustice.
