About me
Erik Engel, LCSW, is currently a veteran school social worker of over 25 years, having worked in a variety of settings from residential to alternative to public high school. He cofounded a program within his current high school for students who are diagnosed with anxiety and depression, and previously struggled to attend school. Engel is the recipient of the Symetra/Chicago Bears Classroom Hero Award and ISBE's Those Who Excel Award (2015). He was published in the Children and Schools journal (2021) co-writing about addressing Termination during COVID restrictions. He also works clinically with first responders and military members/veterans as a therapist for First Responders Wellness Center, as a military veteran himself.
